The
Town of Gibbons is a friendly, safe town you should be considering as your future home or
just for a visit. Our Town offers a variety of amenities for small town living, as well as
access to all the facilities of a large city, within an easy, pleasurable commuting
distance. The Town of Gibbons is located 10 kilometers northeast of the corporate limits
of the City of Edmonton, which in reality places us approximately 40 kilometers from
downtown Edmonton. Our community is very family oriented with the majority of our
population in the 25 to 40 age group.
We have two schools in town, each covering kindergarten to grade
nine. High school education is provided at Sturgeon Composite High. Advanced education
such as University, Technical schools and Colleges are available in Edmonton.
Situated along the Sturgeon River, the Town boasts a fully
developed River Valley complete with structured pathways, benches, picnic area, viewing
points and an adventure playground. We also have seven parks and a new Lions Family
Campground.
Our museum includes the original McLean Bros. Store and one of
the first homes in the area.
The Goose Hummock Golf Resort is located a mere 3 kilometers
north of Gibbons. Here you can look forward to 18 holes of world class quality golf.
Senior housing in Gibbons is provided by two facilities. Pinecrest Gardens provides self-contained apartment units with all the required
amenities. Spruce View Manor provides a limited number of residential units and is
the home of the Twilight Club.
The Business Park, with easy access to Edmonton and surrounding
industrial complexes such as Sheritt Fertilizer Plant and Dupont Hydrogen Plant, has some
20 acres and is located adjacent to the community just off Highway 28A. Approximately 10
acres have been serviced including water, sewer and power utilities. We can offer prime
properties at very reasonable prices.
We invite you to join us for our annual Canada Day celebrations,
the Community Wide Garage Sale -Saturday after Labour Day and for Pioneer Days at the
Gibbons Museum the last week-end in August. Gibbons is definitely a community you would be
proud to call home.
